Poetry Workshop with Maria Sassi

The Noah Webster House & West Hartford Historical Society will host a Poetry Workshop led by Poet Laureate Emeritus Maria Sassi on Saturday, June 24 from 1-4 p.m.

Maria Sassi, leader of the workshop, is a prize-winning poet and playwright and served as the first Poet Laureate of West Hartford from 2005-2009. Her book of poems, Rooted in Stars, is in its second edition, the first is in the Beinecke Rare Book and Manuscript Library at Yale University. Her work has been published in The Lyric, Trinity Review, Blue Unicorn, Mobius, Pivot, Paterson Literacy, The Connecticut Review, Cadacius, and more. She has hosted many poetry venues, including the Old State House, Charter Oak Cultural Center, and the Noah Webster Library.

The workshop will focus on writing the ekphratic poem, the poem about a work of art.
